The Matildas head into their final Cup of Nations match against World No. 36 Argentina undefeated.

Head coach Ante Milicic won’t be complacent despite the South Americans’ winless run across the last two matches.

It’s an important time in Argentina’s history with the nation competing at their first FIFA Women’s World Cup since China 2007 – mostly due to the lack of support and resources the team receives. For the Albicelestes, competing against the likes of the Matildas, New Zealand and Korea Republic is a rarity.

Unfortunately Argentina have conceded seven goals in just two games, to Australia’s one. However, this experience for the team and head coach José Carlos Borrello is invaluable heading into France.

For Australia, Milicic will continue the same style of play – dominating possession and playing out from the back. He will also be rotating his squad again to make sure he’s seen as many different players as possible, opening the door for Princess Ibini and Teigen Allen who are on the cusp of selection.

Something the Matildas will need to improve on is their defensive shape in transition – where they’ve been most vulnerable at this tournament.
