Group A

Bahrain left it late to seal a place in the Round of 16 as a third ranking nation with Jamal Rashid’s late minute penalty was enough to send India home in a dramatic 1-0 win.

Both the United Arab Emirates and Thailand also progressed after their match ended in a 1-1 draw which sees the hosts top the group while their opponents progress in second.

Group B

Reigning champions Australia were forced to battle until the final minutes with Tom Rogic’s long range strike sending the Socceroos through to the final 16 at the expense of Syria who finished bottom after a very underwhelming tournament.

Jordan topped the group after their 0-0 draw with Palestine saw the minnows finish third and just miss out on a place in the knockout stages.

Group C

Tournament favourites, South Korea dispatched of China with relative ease in a 2-0 win to seal top spot in Group C.

Goals from Hwang Ui-jo and Kim Min-Jae were the difference while Tottenham superstar, Son Heung-Min played his first minutes of the tournament. Despite the loss, China still find themselves through to the knockout stages finishing second.

Kyrgystan sealed their place in the knockout stages as a third placed side after Vitalij Lux’s hat-trick sunk the Philippines in a 3-1 win.

Group D

Iran and Iraq played out a scoreless draw which solidified Iran’s position on top of the Group while the results sees Iraq finish second on goal difference.

Vietnam are also through to the next stage after a 2-0 win over Yemen with young gun, Nguyen Quang Hai slamming home the side’s first and leading them to an important victory in the process.

Group E

Japan were forced to come from behind against Uzbekistan with Tsukasa Shiotani scoring in the second-half to seal the Blue Samurai’s pole position in Group E while the White Wolves will qualify in second.

Oman also left it late to see off Turkmenistan with Muhsen Al-Ghassani’s late strike giving his side the lead with moments to play before Mohammed Al-Maslami sealed the win and their place as the final third ranked in team in the final 16.

Group F

Almoez Ali continued his fine run of form with his sixth and seventh goal of the tournament leading Qatar to top spot in Group F at the expense of Saudi Arabia who will have to settle for a second-place finish.

It was heartbreak for Lebanon as their 4-1 win over North Korea was not enough to get through as a third placed side due to their disciplinary record.
