The Advertiser’s Val Migliaccio has revealed Adelaide United “does not have the finances” to sign rumoured transfer targets Besart Berisha or Bobo.
Adelaide United’s grievances have exacerbated this season with international marquee Baba Diawarra failing to stay fit, in addition to injuries to George Blackwood and Apostolos Stamatelopoulos.
It had been rumoured Adelaide were in the race to potentially sign a returning Bobo as well as having an interest in luring former Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory striker Besart Berisha.
“It’s just noise at the moment,” Migliaccio told FNR.
“There was talk of Berisha but that’s not going to happen.”
“They haven’t got the finances as far as I know to actually secure him but they do need a striker.”
Adelaide have been renowned over the course of the A-League to rely on goal scoring midfielders and while Craig Goodwin and Ben Halloran have been useful, the need for a striker is one the club looks to address.
“It was obvious on the weekend they needed a striker,” Migliaccio said.
“If Adelaide had a recognised striker they might have taken the lead given the amount of chances they created.”
While the team was without a striker on the weekend George Blackwood is nearing a return after playing in the side’s National Youth League team.
According to Migliaccio, Blackwood is being eased back into the side to regain confidence after suffering a broken collarbone.
“He played in the NYL but it was more so get his confidence back,” Migliaccio said.
Craig Goodwin leads Adelaide’s goal scorers this season with three goals.
